About
A notebook from the middle of training
I’m Karim Sidhom, a urology resident. Between Cases is where I write down the things that are clearest right now — while I still remember what it felt like not to know them.
The best surgical educators teach from mastery, often with the camera and the real tissue. I can’t offer operative video here, and I won’t pretend to. What I can offer is the other half: the reasoning around the operation, written from the trainee’s vantage — the one that expires the moment you reach the top.
What lives here
Teaching topics— structured walk-throughs built from a trainee’s mental model, reasoning first and the maneuver second.
Writing — essays about the work itself, reflective and sometimes argumentative.
Research— an open bench of the reviews, case series, and projects I’m actually working on.
A standing disclaimer
Everything here is educational and reflective. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for guidelines, supervision, or clinical judgment. Where I teach a framework, I’m sharing how I think about a problem — not telling you how to treat a patient.
