One-year certificate fellowship with two tracks: combined endourology/stone, robotics and laparoscopy, or robotic surgery and minimally invasive urologic oncology. The fellow works as junior faculty across ORs and clinics, teaches residents and takes part in research.

- Junior faculty role covering ORs, clinics and the Iowa City VA Medical Center; surgical experience shaped by the fellow's chosen track
- Research
- Research participation is part of the fellowship; fellow also gives formal didactic lectures and takes part in surgical skills simulation labs
- Case numbers
- Combined track: more than 200 laparoscopic/robotic cases per fellow, roughly half upper and half lower tract
- Combined track: an additional 150 endourologic cases per fellow (PCNL and ureteroscopy)

- Completed ACGME-accredited urology residency (foreign graduates in special circumstances)
- All three steps of USMLE
- Three letters, one from current program director
- Eligible for permanent Iowa medical license
